Owl - Mixed media canvas for Dusty Attic DT

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic blog with a new mixed media canvas.

Photo by Meg Jerrard on Unsplash

I covered the canvas with plaster, paper, and white crackle paste. When dry, I painted the background with liquid acrylicpaints.

I covered the Paisley #3 with Blue Opals Jewel paste and Midnight Sky paint. I added the the same combo to the Wildflower #6. I painted the leaves of the latest with Ochre Liquid paint.

I primed the Branch #4 and the Foliage#27 with white gesso before I painted them with Ochre and Ink Black liquid acrylic.

I added some gold and orange accents to the Paisley #3 with waxes, blue accent to the leaves of the Wildflower #6, and gold or orange accents to the other leaves.

I added a few flowers to the composition as well.

To finish, I added some Golden Dragon plaste and glitters.

La vie est belle - Mixed media panel for 49 & Market and Dusty Attic DTs

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on 49 and Market blog with a new mixed media panel, inspired by Dusty Attic's April mood board.

Here is the April mood board:
I covered the panel with a thin layer of paper paste. When dry, I added a design with the Ledger stencil and modeling paste. Next, I colored the background with Mica powders mixed and water mixed with Liquid Acrylic fluid.

I primed all the chipboard with white gesso. I painted the Industrial Globe and the Film Strip with a mix of brown and crimson paints, then I add some wax. For the Tea Leaves and Foliage #6, I mixed brown and white paints with mica powder.

To paint the Sugar Posies, I mixed crimson paint with Gnome Berry Bordeaux Magical.

I tore a few strips from the Fragments paper from the Vintage Anywhere collection That I glued on the right side of the panel. I added some Laser Cut Elements from the Curators Essential collection.

I chose some Ephemera and Remnants that I layered under the photo with the Film Strip. I added the leaves and flowers around the photo.

To finish, I added some glitter and microbeads.

Picture is a poem without words ... Mixed media panel for Lindy's Gang DT

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Lindy's Gang blog with a new video tutorial. I chose a photo from the movie "Edward Scissorhands". I must admit I have never watched this movie, but I find this photo very inspiring for a Spring project.

I think it happens to all of us to make a project that we didn't like. I have this panel with a background I really didn't like, so instead of throwing it away, I just covered it with white gesso, et voilà! my panel was ready for another project.

Basic process:
  1. Take your old background and cover it with one or two coats of white gesso;
  2. Color the background with your favorite colors if your photo is black & white; I choose to work with Pirate's Plunder Gold, Fairy Garden Green, and My Mojito Green;
  3. Use a baby wipe to blend the colors together;
  4. Emboss a frame with Chip Off the Old Black EP. While the embossing powder was still hot, sprinkle some Gimme Five Gold EP.
  5. Prime some resin leaves with clear gesso;
  6. Color them with My Mojito Green and Sparkling Sunset Magicals;
  7. Everything is ready to be assembled. Glue all the elements with 3D gel;
  8. Add a few flowers to your composition;
  9. To finish, add some glitters.
As you can see, this panel was really easy to make and I was able to salvage my messed-up background.

Here is the recorded video:

From another point of view - Art journal page for Lindy's Gang DT

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Lindy's Gang blog with a new page of my Art Journal inspired by the April color combo and ingredient.

Color Guidelines: Soft Lavender - Blush Pink- Soft Blue

Challenge Ingredient: Tea

I cut a piece of watercolor paper on which I sprinkled some Tweedle Dee Denim Flat Magical, then sprayed with water.

I die cut a doily in a watercolor paper. I used this time tNuneka's Purple Popsicle and Cotton Candy Pink Magicals to color it.

I stamped randomly the background with a text stamp and black Archival ink. Then I glued the doily which I've cut into pieces. I used a pencil to add some shadow around the doily.

I stamped again with another text stamp on the background and embossed the text with Slam Dunk Silver. I inked the edge with Black Distress ink, then I sprinkled it with Slam Dunk  Silver EP and heat embossed.

To finish, I added some glitter.
