Anne Marie - Layout for Dusty Attic DT

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic blog with a vintage layout with a photo of one of my great aunts.

To begin, I primed the background with Clear Gesso. Next, I added a design with Floral #2 Stencil and Pearl Icing paste. When the paste was dry, I added some brown and black Distress inks to make the design pop up.

I covered the Ornat Circle #2 with embossing powder that I was careful not to melt down completely to obtain a non-even surface.

I primed all the chipboards I have selected with white gesso. Then I simply distressed the edges with black and brown inks.

I attached a few ephemera under the photo, and then I made a cluster with Spring Bloom #3, Wildflower #4, Foliage #25, and a couple Poppy Heads. I added a few white flowers to the composition which  I altered with Distress inks as they were too white.

I also included a Pocket Watch to remind the one concealed in her pocket. In the photo, we can definitely make out the chain.

To finish, I splattered the background with glitter mixed with gel medium and water.

Today I'm up on Dusty attic blog with my first project for 2024: a mixed media panel.

I embossed the Industrial Jumbo Gears, the Nuneka Gears, and the Blueprint Word.

I primed the Leaves #3 and the Christmas Berries #1 with white gesso. I painted the leaves with green and orange liquid acrylic paints.

I colored some flowers and the Christmas Berries #1 with red and gold Magicals.

Hold on ... - Miced media panel for Dusty Attic DT

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic blog with a new mixed media panel.

I've selected a piece of paper that I tore in two parts, but before gluing them on the panel, I added a design with clear crackle paste and the Lace stencil. I let the paste dry naturally.

I primed all the chipboard with white gesso before adding any paint. I painted the Small Scroll #2 in Ultramarine and Purple paints, then added Aged Brass wax to remind the color of the peacock's wings.

For the Foliage #23, I used the Umber color. The Foliage #27 and Foliage #7 were painted with Emerald and Ochre. Finally, I painted the Forest fern with Ochre and Lime Green to remind the color of the peacock's head and upper wings.

In the meantime, the crackles of the paste have appeared, it's time to finish the background. First, I glued my torn papers and inked the edges to give them a distress look. When done, I painted the design with green and brown liquid acrylic paints

I painted the Decorative Frame #2 with Umber, then I added White Gold wax.
When happy with the result, I glued all the elements of the composition with a 3D gel.

To finish, I added some effect paste, mica, and glitter.

Coral - Canvas for Dusty Attic DT

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on dusty Attic blog with a canvas inspired by the May color combo.

Here is the beautiful color combo for May:

I primed the canvas with white gesso before adding a design with the Circle Dot stencil and paste. While the paper paste was still wet I sprinkled with embossing powder. I let it dry before heat embossing the powder.

I primed also all the chipboard with white gesso. I used different shades of brown to paint the Foliage #23 and the Leaves #5. I added White Gold wax to both and some Mahogany to the Leaves #5.

I painted the Dandelions with Nude and Carmin to match the color of the flowers. I painted the Marrakesh Treillis with Umber and add Copper wax when dry.

For my background, I want to obtain a color similar to the color of the wall that can be seen in the color combo, but I want to give it a dirtier look. So first, I painted the background with Umber liquid acrylic that I removed partially. When the paint was completely dry, I covered the whole canvas with a mix of antiquing waxes: Soot and Sepia. I added clear wax as well to dilute the color as I want the background to have a light shade of brownish grey. When done, I glued all the elements with 3D gel.

To finish, I added some glitter.

The Girl in the Water - Layout for Dusty Attic DT

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic blog with a simple layout.

I really want to keep the design of my layout very simple. I die-cut a few hexagons in papers from the same collection as my background.

I primed my selected chipboard with white gesso.

I colored them all with a Distress Oxide Spray matte finish like the Foliage #5, or a mix of the Distress Oxide Spray and Starbust that add some shine with the mica it contains like for the Foliage Cluster #2 and #3.

For the Wildflower #5, I used the same Distress Oxide Spray to color the branches and leaves, but I colored the flower buds with a Distress Oxide Spray with the same tone as the flowers.

I glued all the hexagons on a cardboard to rise them a little. Then, I started my composition: I glued first the hexagons, then I added the chipboard and flowers.

Merry Christmas - Mixed media star for Dusty Attic

Hello Sweeties,

Today, I'm up on Dusty Attic blog with another Xmas home decor. I used the amazing December color combo.

Here is the beautiful December color combo

I colored a large piece of watercolor paper with different inks in burgundy, pale pink and black. I used this paper to cover a MDF star that I have brought a few year ago in a dollar store and completely forget about it. It was perfect for the project I had in mind.

Next I added a design with a stencil and modeling paste. I sprinkled with a coral embossing powder while the paste was still wait and heat embossed. I replaced the stencil at the same places and entended the pattern with a brass wax.

As usual, I primed all the chipboard with white gesso before I colored them. I embossed the Vintage Frame #4 with a copper EP. I embossed the Christmas Berries #1 with a burgundy EP and the berries of the Mistletoe #2 with the coral EP I've used previously.

I painted the Foliage #11 and the Pine Sprig  #2 with black liquid acrylic, then I added the brass wax. For the Foliage #27 and Mistletoe #2, I used a brown liquid acrylic. I glued all my elements with 3D gel and I added a few flowers and a small bird.

To finish, I added glitter.
