Perfect Picture - Mixed media canvas for 49 and Market DT

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on 49 and Market blog with a new video tutorial. I made a canvas with the Mini Remnants and the Vintage Artistry Essentials collections.

I decided to use the August sketch which I inverted, then rotated 90°.

I added a design with a stencil and Modeling paste. When dry, I painted the canvas with Grey de Payne paint which is a dark blue grey.

First, I used the Old White wax to reveal the details of the design. Next, I used the Old Silver and the White pearl to highlight them.

I tore two pieces of the Forgotten paper to add on both sides of the canvas. I added some Ephemera as well.

I added some white Sugar Posies and grey Mini Flowers. I die cut some leaves in a watercolor paper which I colored with acrylic paint to add in between.

To finish, I added some glitters, microbeads, sequins.

I hope you will enjoy the step-by-step video:

Under the sea - Mixed media panel for Dusty Attic DT

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic blog with a kind of diorama. Imagine looking through the porthole of a submarine and looking at the sea world. Wouldn't that be amazing!

I primed the two parts of the porthole with black gesso. I added a piece of acrylic between the two pieces of the porthole. Next, I painted it with Silver Spoon acrylic paint. Next, I used the Rust Effect pastes set to alter the porthole. Finally, I added some Old Silver wax.

I built a bottom which I covered with white crackle paste. When dry, I colored it with different shades of blue liquid acrylic paints.

I primed all the sea chipboards with white gesso and the resin elements with clear gesso. I used liquid acrylic paints to color them and waxes to highlight the details. I covered the Coral elements with Iced Crushed paste and Nude liquid acrylic.

I covered the Anchor with Rust Effect pastes, added a little bit of Old Silver wax, and added jute cording. I glued a piece of toothpick behind all the elements.

I added a piece of polystyrene at the bottom covered with Paper paste. While the paste was still wet, I added some sand to mimic the sea bed. When done, I glued all the elements in place.

To finish, I added some natural elements like a crab, shells, moss, and starfishes

Power of a smile - Mixed media canvas for Lindy's Gang

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Lindy's Gang blog with a new mixed media canvas.

Basic process:
  • Glue some pieces of different papers with a Soft Gel;
  • Blend all the paper pieces with White Gesso;
  • Add a design with a stencil and Plaster paste;
  • Add some White crackle paste here and there; let it dry naturally;
  • Add some Graphite paste as well here and there;

  • Prime some resin elements and computer parts with White Gesso;
  • Paint the Graphite paste with White Gesso too;

  • Glue the embellishments to your liking with Heavy Body Gel;
  • To paint the background and the resin elements, mix your Magicals with Liquid Fluid Medium. I use Black Hole Black, Sandra Dee Sepia first. Then I continue with Gag Me With a Spoon Gray, Steel Shimmer, and Milky Way White;

  • You need to dry everything before the next step. Mix a tiny amount of Soft Gloss Gel with water, and add some splatter;
  • Cover the splatters with Terra Cotta Rust EP. Be careful to remove all the unwanted embossing powder before heat embossing;
  • Add some Chrome Doesn't Pay EP as well;

  • Whiten the background and highlight the elements of the composition with Old White  and Old Silver waxes;
  • To finish, add some glass glitter.
I hope you will enjoy the video:

Saxo - Altered wood panel

Hello Sweeties,

Today I have an altered wood panel to share with you.

As I want to keep the wood visible, so I started immediately to build my composition. I began with the motherboard, then the biggest gears, the smallest, and the pipes. I added some flowers and pebbles as well.

When happy with my collage, I primed all the embellishments with white gesso and I tried to keep the background clean.

When dry, I started to paint everything with liquid acrylic paints. I used Prussian Blue, Burnt Sienna, and Black Ink. I dry brushed all the embellishments, added more colors, and repeat until I was happy with the result.

Next,  I added some rust touch with the Red Rust Effect paste.

When happy with the result and everything was dry, I highlighted the details with Vintage Gold, White Gold and White Pearl waxes

Materials:
  • Moulds - Finnabair Prima (Machine Parts, Rusty Pipeline);
  • Art Ingredients - Finnabair Prima (Pebbles);
  • Liquid Acrylic Art Alchemy - Finnabair Prima (Prussian Blue, Burnt Sienna, Ink Black, Carmine);
  • Waxes Art Alchemy - Finnabair Prima (White Gold, White Pearl, Vintage Gold);
  • Art Extravagance - Finnabair Prima (Red Rust Effect Paste );
  • Art Basics - Finnabair Prima (Clear Gesso, Heavy White Gesso, Heavy Body Gel).

La Mothe Chandeniers - Mixed media panel for Dusty Attic DT

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Dusty Attic blog with a transparent frame. I work with a photo of the Castle of La Mothe Chandeniers. This castle was abandoned, but thanks to a call for donations, it is now being safeguarded.

Here is the beautiful mood board.

I mixed some Ice Frosted paste with a tiny amount of Whale Watch Blue Magical to give the paste a light blue shade. I used this paste to add a design to a piece of acetate with a stencil.

 Next, I primed all the chipboards with black gesso. I used only waxes to color them. For the Framed Journal Box, I used first the Charcoal Black which is more Payne Grey, a dark grey with a blue undertone. I added also some Old Denim and Old Silver.

For the Foliage #27 leaves, I used the Sage Leaves which is a matte wax, then the shiny Lucky Emerald. And for the branch of Foliage #23, I began with the Charcoal Black, then Lucky Emerald.

I glued an ATC Frame #4 on top of the photo colored with Charcoal black and Old Silver. I used the matte Shabby Pink, then the Burgundy wax to color the Spring Blooms, as well as the Old Silver in the edges.

Finally, I colored the birdcage with the matte Faded Denim and the metallic Old Silver.

To finish, I added some glitter.
