Rochelle's Folie - Mixed media panel for Mixed Media Place

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Mixed Media Place blog where I've been inviting as a guest designer. I worked with a photomontage I made a while ago inspired by Almayer's Folie from Magritte.

Here is the beautiful mood board for your inspiration

I began my project by gluing a piece of the Solar paper tissue with Soft Matte Gel. When dry, I covered it with clear gesso. I mixed some Frozen Lake mica powder with 3D Gloss gel to make a paste. I used this paste along with the Golden Dust Jewel paste and a stencil to add a design.

When everything was dry, I colored the background with different liquid acrylic paints to match the colors of the photo. I mixed Prussian Blue, Ultramarine, and Violet to obtain the right shade of blue. For the sun part, I worked with True Yellow, Tiger Orange, and a hint of Carmine.

Before gluing all the embellishments, I primed the resin elements with Black gesso and the metallic elements with clear gesso. To color the elements, I used waxes: the pipes with Charcoal Black wax, the frame with White Gold, and the flowers with Old Denim and Peacock.

Next, I applied Vintage Gold over everything but I was careful to give the impression of the light coming from the yellow part of the panel.

To finish, I added glass glitter and glitter.

When dry, I highlighted the details with Charcoal Black wax, then with Graphite, and finally with the White Pearl.

I stamped randomly with Black Archival ink and the Old Town stamp. Next, I highlighted the details of the background with Old White wax. I glued the elements of the composition with Heavy Body Gel.

I added some green touch with the Lucky Emerald wax and the Avocado liquid acrylic to remind the green of the photo. To finish, I add some pearls, glass glitter, and glitter.

Be True to Yourself - Mixed media panel

Hello Sweeties,

Today I have a new mixed media panel to share with you inspired by the June Moodboard from Art Daily Cafe. I worked with a photo from @Denis Chekanov Art.

The June theme is Rust & Dust.

June Art Daily Color is Rusty Red and Rusty Brown.

The technique is "use something forgotten in your stash".

First, I glued a few papers on the background on which I added a design with Modeling Paste. Next, I glued a piece of leftover plastic used to create the number for apartments. Next, I covered the whole panel with an uneven layer of Plaster Paste.

When dry, I painted everything with liquid acrylic paints in Burnt Sienna, Carmine, and Ochre. I added also some Brown Rus Paste and some Ink Black liquid Acrylic paint. Finally, I added Clear Crackle Paste here and there.

I primed some gears and cogs with Black Gesso. Next, I colored them all with Brown and Red pastes. When dry, I added some Charcoal Black wax, then the Graphite, and finally the Brushed Iron.

Next, I glued all the elements from the composition with the Heavy Body Gel. I added some Brushed Iron and White gold on the background to highlight all its details.

To finish, I added some Glass Glitter and Mica Flakes.

Materials:
  • Moulds - Finnabair Prima (Machine Part, Large Gear, Grunge Frames);

Found Objects - Mixed media panel

Hello Sweeties,

Today I have a new mixed media canvas to share with you inspired by the delicate mood board from Mixed Media Place.

I glued some papers on the canvas with the soft matte gel on which I added a design with a stencil and plaster paste. When dry, I added I added some Limestone paste and white crackle paste.

I painted the resin elements with a mix of Impasto (Dusty Rose and Dark Chocolate). When dry, I used an antiquing paste to add a vintage look.

I mixed different liquid acrylic paints to obtain the blue of the photo to paint the lower part of the canvas. For the upper part, I used the Jade and Snow White Impasto and Emerald liquid acrylic. When dry, I added the Ink Black to add some contrast and depth.

I glued all the embellishments (resin elements, mechanical, metal embellishments) with 3D matte gel and added some natural elements like the branch or the dried hydrangeas. I added some Art Stones which I painted with the blue mix or the jade mix.

Battage 1950 - Maja Design DT

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Maja Design blog with a new layout featuring the Vintage Spring Basics. I chose a family photo taken at my grandparents' farm during the threshing.

And here is the June's moodboard:

J'ai tamponné le fond avec un tampon avant de le protéger avec du gesso transparent. Ensuite, j'ai ajouté un motif à l'aide d'un pochoir et de pâtes à craqueler transparente et blanche, que j'ai laissé sécher naturellement.

I stamped the background with a stamp before priming it with clear gesso. Next, I added a design with a stencil and two crackle pastes: one clear, the other white.

While the pastes were drying, I die cut different elements in a watercolor paper: some leaves, stems, and gears. I colored all the elements with different inks and magicals. I embossed also some of the stems.

I cut a few papers to add under the photo as well as some sisal, before gluing all the embellishments.

To finish the layout, I added some microbeads.

Here is the beautiful mood board that Marie created this month:

Ces cartes sont trés simple à faire. J'ai commencé par couper le papier de fond. Ensuite, j'ai collé un bout de papier et découpé un autre

The cards were really simple to make. First I chose the background paper. Next, I glued a scrap of paper and die cut another one.

Next, I die cut some leaves in a watercolor paper and I colored them with green inks. I glued some sisal, a few flowers, the leaves, added some microbeads, and that's it.
